About Abby

Abigail Smith grew up in a family who loves music and encouraged her in all of her musical endeavors. She began classical violin and fiddle lessons at age 6, and piano lessons and choir at age 8. She took voice lessons her last two years of high school, and taught herself basic guitar chords at the beginning of 2020 while she was studying abroad in Jerusalem. Abby graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Music in World Cultures, with minors in Global Studies and Language.

Abby views music as a way to connect emotionally with others, and to express joy, pain, and beauty all in one breath! She started teaching piano at age 15, and loves to help other aspiring musicians learn how to play and love music in the same way. Abby curates her lessons to meet the goals and desires of each student, and excels at creating a studio environment that is both cheerful and patient.

Abby believes it is integral that her students learn both classical and popular techniques, so that they emerge as musicians well equipped to handle the challenges of their chosen instrument. She primarily focuses on teaching healthy playing techniques, sight-reading, rhythm drills, chords on piano, improvisation skills, and fostering a curiosity and love for music that will spur students on in their musical adventures long after they have moved on from her lessons.
