About Lauren

Lauren Jecker is a songwriter, vocalist, and bassist with a decade of on-stage experience, including acoustic duos, rock bands, and musical theatre. She has worked with Sense and Color since 2017, primarily with the band program. Lauren’s influences range from singer-songwriter to hardcore punk, with favorites spanning everything from Fiona Apple, Modern Baseball, and The Cure to a number of local bands.

Outside of the practice room, Lauren is a student at the University of Texas, studying Art Education. She hopes to one day teach art at the high school level, with a focus on hands-on exploration and free expression. She has also worked extensively with Girls Rock Austin, a nonprofit organization and summer camp geared toward empowering girls and queer youth through music.

Lauren knows what it’s like to be a student at Sense and Color, and is comfortable teaching all ages and skill levels, as well as students with special needs.

Lauren teaches voice, bass, songwriting, and beginner piano, and is a director for Sense and Color’s band program. Let Lauren help you discover your inner rock star!
