Megan Berson has played the violin and viola for over thirty years, and performed around the world in such venues as the Sydney Opera House, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Radio City Music Hall, as well as the Long Center and the Paramount Theater here in Austin, Texas. Megan received her BA in Performance from San Diego State University, and has studied with principal members of the Berlin Philharmonic, the San Diego Symphony, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. She also studied classical guitar with Fred Benedetti (a pupil of Andrés Segovia), and George Svbobada. Megan has over 20 years of violin teaching experience and has worked with students ranging from ages three to seventy-five. She’s taught for Sense & Color since 2016, and prior to that, taught around 400 students a year in the public schools of New York City.
In addition to an impressive resume and gorgeous playing ability, our violin instructor Megan is patient and friendly with all ages, and works to help every student shine, no matter their age or experience level!
Don’t have your own violin yet?
Megan wants to see all her students succeed, and that’s difficult on an inexpensive violin from Amazon. It’s extremely de-motivating to practice on an instrument that won’t stay in tune, and the quality of your violin makes a HUGE difference in how well you can play! If you don’t have an instrument yet, Megan is happy to bring a loaner instrument for your first lesson (as long as she’s given enough advance notice) and she’ll help you choose the right instrument for you. Just let us know when you book your trial session if you need that help!
Note: Megan‘s schedule generally stays full and on a waiting list, especially during the school year—so if you see an available time that works for you, we recommend jumping on it quickly.
