Originally from North Carolina, Robert Perkins received his degree in saxophone performance at UNC School of the Arts, and earned two Master’s Degrees at the University of TX at Austin in music performance and education. With over 19 years of experience teaching piano and saxophone to students of all ages with a focus on music theory and performance, Robert is passionate about sharing the joy of music with his students and helping them develop their skills and appreciation for music.
As a teacher, Robert works to creates a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters musical growth and exploration. With experience teaching elementary students and a background in Montessori education for kids ages 4-6, Robert is skilled at adapting his teaching approach to meet the unique needs of younger students—but he’s equally comfortable working with all ages! Robert works with several Central TX school districts, teaching private lessons on campus at multiple middle and high schools in Leander ISD, Round Rock ISD, and Georgetown ISD.
As of Fall 2024, Robert looks forward to joining Sense & Color for the opportunity to build lasting connections with his students (and driving less!). Outside of teaching, Robert has performed with numerous Big Band and Swing Orchestras, and is a highly-reviewed professional photographer who enjoys playing paintball, camping, and spending time with his wife and two dogs.
Robert truly enjoy meeting new people and discovering what makes them unique, and each of his students can expect to receive personalized instruction, guidance, and support as they grow and develop as musicians.
